UN climate conference COP25 in Madrid

Reinforcing our message: 30 by 2030

The UN Climate Change Conference COP 25 is taking place from 2 – 13 December 2019 in Madrid, Spain.

It will take place under the Presidency of the Government of Chile and will be held with logistical support from the Government of Spain.

The conference is designed to take the next crucial steps in the UN climate change process. Following agreement on the implementation guidelines of the Paris Agreement at COP 24 in Poland last year, a key objective is to complete several matters with respect to the full operationalization of the Paris Climate Change Agreement.

It all began at the COP24 world climate conference a year ago, when a group of European Railway Undertakings founded the Rail Freight Forward coalition, with the aim of shifting more freight to the environmentally friendly rails in order to protect the climate.

To draw the attention of the public to this topic, Rail Freight Forward sent the climate ambassador Noahs Train on its way through Europe. Today we are looking back to a journey of more than 10 months, and a strong European movement.

Rail Freight Forward will be present at this year's global UN climate conference COP25 as well, in order to reinforce our message: shifting 30 % of freight to rail in Europe by 2030 and thus protect our climate.
